Ingredients

Spaghetti:

  • 350 g Dry Spaghetti
  • 1 tsp Salt/Namak
  • Water

Meatballs:

  • 700 g Minced Meat (I used lamb)
  • 50 g Breadcrumbs
  • 50 g Parmesan Cheese
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 tsp Salt/Namak
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper/Kali Mirch Powder
  • 1 tsp Chilli Flakes
  • 1 tsp Onion Granules
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 1 tsp Dried Oregano
  • Coriander/Dhaniyaa finely chopped

Marinara Sauce:

  • 50 ml Olive Oil
  • 2 Onions
  • 10 Garlic Cloves/Lehsan
  • 800 g Canned Tomatoes
  • 1 tsp Salt/Namak
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper/Kali Mirch Powder
  • 1 tsp Dried Basil
  • 1 tsp Dried Oregano
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 1 tsp Chilli Flakes
  • 20 g Basil finely chopped
  • 200 ml Water

Instructions

  • In a large bowl combine the minced meat with the rest of the meatball ingredients then mix until well combined
  • Use your hands to make equal sized meatballs
  • Heat up the olive oil on medium heat in a pan then add the meatballs and lightly fry on medium heat, flipping every 1-2 minutes to ensure that all sides cook – the meatballs will not be cooked through at this point
  • Remove the meatballs and set aside then add the finely diced onions to the same pan before cooking for 3-4 minutes until softened
  • Add the finely chopped garlic and cook for 2-3 minutes
  • Add the canned tomatoes and cook for 3-4 minutes and bring to a gentle bubble
  • Add the salt, black pepper, dried basil, dried oregano, paprika and chilli flakes then cook for 4-5 minutes
  • Add the finely chopped basil and water then use a hand blender to blend the sauce until smooth – if you do not have a hand blender then transfer the sauce to a normal blender and blender, alternatively you could skip the blending!
  • Once blended gently simmer the sauce for 20 minutes to allow the flavour to develop – you can do it for less time if you prefer (or more!)
  • As the sauce is simmering prepare the spaghetti by bring a large pot of salted water to a boil then add the spaghetti and stir it gently until all the strands sink beneath the water level – ensure that the strands are not stuck together
  • Add the meatballs and submerge into the sauce before reducing the heat and covering then cook for 18-20 minutes until the meatballs are cooked through
  • Add the cooked spaghetti and mix until the sauce coats the strands and the meatballs are evenly distributes within the pasta
  • Your spaghetti and meatballs are ready!
