Penne al’Arrabiata is a classic Italian dish that can be made in under half an hour. A quick and healthy pasta dish that is great to serve for dinner packed with garlic and chilli flavour.

Ingredients

  • 400 g Pasta penne
  • 2 L Water
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 6 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 2 Dried Chillies
  • 2 Garlic Cloves
  • 400 g Canned Tomatoes

Instructions

  • In a saucepan add the water and 1 teaspoon of the salt then stir until the salt is dissolved and bring it to a boil
  • Add the pasta to the water and cook for 10-12 minutes on a gentle simmer until the pasta is al dente – al dente refers to when the pasta is cooked just enough to retain a somewhat firm texture with a bit of a bite
  • Whilst the pasta is cooking in a large pot heat up the olive oil on medium heat until hot
  • Add the dried chillies and garlic cloves to the pan then sauté for 1-2 minutes
  • Pour in the canned tomatoes and bring the mixture to a boil then bring down the heat and allow to gently simmer for 15 minutes
  • Add 1 tsp of salt then stir and cook until the sauce has thickened
  • Drain the pasta and add into the sauce then cook for a few minutes
  • Your penne al’arrabiata is ready!
