Personally, I am not much of a fish fan. Don’t get me wrong, I like it, but I would much rather have chicken over fish. With that being said fish curries are one of my favourite curries out there, ESPECIALLY tuna fish curry. I know this isn’t a tuna fish curry, but it is still top class. It is also my brother’s favourite food in the world. He loves everything fish from fish pakoras to fish pie to fish masala to fish wraps.
Cod curry is a common delicacy in South India and Bangladesh, and it tastes delicious. Fish curries in general, like my tuna curry, are extremely simple to make and quick. This makes them the perfect starting point for beginners and those with not much experience in cooking. Curries can sometimes seem like daunting recipes, but with my recipes you’ll be an expert in no time!
This cod fish curry is slightly different to the ones that I have seen on YouTube and other recipes online because it doesn’t involve any marination of the fish. I add the fish straight into the masala without separately frying it. I find that this tastes much better and compliments the masala gravy much better. You could add the spices on to the fish and leave it to marinate then fry it. It is all up to you. This curry is very simple and does not take long to make at all. It takes about 30 minutes to make, and you’re done!
One of the best things about this recipe is that it uses cod. This makes this cod fish curry a nutritious and healthy curry recipe with numerous benefits. You could change the fish species you use to pollock or halibut or whichever fish you prefer.
Personally, I like to use cod fish because it has a wide variety of benefits. It is a low-fat source of protein, meaning that you get all the protein with none of the fat! This makes this recipe the perfect choice for those who want to reduce their fat intake and improve their general health.
This recipe is very simple with minimal ingredients. However, this curry does not lack in flavour. Cod fish is one of those ingredients that always taste great. Not much other ingredients are needed to create a tasty curry. This cod fish curry is not too spicy, but it still manages to make your mouth burst with flavours.
I blend the onions and tomatoes to give the masala a smooth consistency and it cuts down the cooking time by a lot. You can used canned tomatoes as well as that would bring out the red colour of the tomatoes. Depending on the canned tomatoes you may need to adjust the seasoning as some canned tomatoes are quite salty and some have a bitter, acidic taste. That is why I prefer to use fresh whole tomatoes because I know what I am getting.
