DAILY DOSE OF DEEN: Get into a habit of reciting the Quran daily even if it is a few ayahs
اَعُوْذُ بِاللهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيْمِ
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمن الرَّحِيْمِ
Assalaamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaathu everyone!
Every word of the Quran is from Allah (سبحانه وتعلي) so reciting any of it is a blessing. However, each Surah has its own blessings and benefits. I will write a more in-depth post on each of the Surahs in this post later on but for now I am just going to provide a quick summary as to why you should try to take your time out to read these Surahs.
Now every single Muslim knows the superiority of Surah Yaseen over the other Surahs in the Quran. It is considered to be one of the most revered Surahs in the Quran. We should try to recite Surah Yaseen after Fajr prayer. This Surah will help to keep our life on track. By reading this Surah every day after Fajr we can expect to see a massive change in the course of our lives. It is narrated by (insert name – waiting on my brother to confirm but he is a busy scholar now that doesn’t have time for his sister) in the (insert book name – again waiting for brother) that the Prophet Muhammad (صلي الله عليه واله وسلم) said,
“Whoever reads Surah Yaseen at the beginning of the day, all his needs for that day would be fulfilled.”– Prophet Muhammad (صلي الله تعلي عليه واله وسلم)
Surah Al Waqiah
Surah Waqiah is known as the Surah of wealth. Today’s society is built on living a life of luxury and many of our problems lie in our financial instability. Finance is a major problem for a lot of people and by reciting Surah Waqiah we can help to ensure that we never suffer from financial problems. In a famous Hadith narrated by (insert name – will update soon) in the book of (insert name), it is stated that
“Whoever recites the Surah Al Waqiah at night, they would never encounter poverty.”– Prophet Muhammad (صلي الله تعلي عليه واله وسلم)
Surah Al Mulk
Surah Al Mulk is the shortest of these Surahs and it would actually be a good idea to commit it to memory. It has countless blessings and by taking out a few minutes of our time we can get a multitude of blessings. This Surah provides one protection from the punishment of the grave. By reciting this Surah Al Mulk, we can help to better our Hereafter. An authentic Hadith narrated by Hazrat Abu Hurairah (رضي الله تعالي عنه) in the Hadith book Tirmidhi states that
“Whoever reads Surah al-Mulk every night, Allah will protect him from the torment of the grave.”– Prophet Muhammad (صلي الله تعلي عليه واله وسلم)
So, this is a relatively short post, but I wanted to post it before Zuhr because I am going back to Oxford today for the holidays to see my family. My brother should be here soon, so I am in a rush to finish this off as I need to go get ready!
